What to Expect During the Trip
This is a relaxed, nature-focused camping experience designed to help you disconnect from city life and reconnect with nature, yourself, and others.
The journey is flexible and unhurried, giving us enough time to explore, slow down, and enjoy each destination at an easy pace. Although we will follow a general itinerary, some activities and timings may be adjusted depending on the weather, road conditions, and the energy of the group.
Your Journey
Day 1 - Addis Ababa to Ajora Twin Waterfalls
Our adventure begins on Friday, August 21, with an early morning departure from Addis Ababa between 6:30 AM and 7:00 AM sharp.
The distance from Addis Ababa to Kembata is approximately 270 km, and we will enjoy a scenic drive through Ethiopia's beautiful countryside. We expect to arrive at Ajora Twin Waterfalls at approximately 3:00 PM.
Upon arrival, we will set up our campsite near the breathtaking waterfalls. The rest of the afternoon will be dedicated to enjoying the beauty of Ajora. You can relax beside the waterfalls, explore the surrounding area, take photographs, and unwind in the peaceful natural environment.
As evening falls, we will enjoy dinner around the campfire and spend our first night camping beneath the stars at Ajora.
Day 2 - Sarobera Gorge, Nearby Waterfall and Gemesha Hot Springs
We will begin the day early with an 8 km morning hike to the spectacular Sarobera Gorge before breakfast.
During the hike, we will experience lush landscapes, dramatic cliffs, peaceful surroundings, and breathtaking views. After returning to the campsite, we will enjoy a well-deserved breakfast and begin packing our camping equipment.
We will then drive and walk approximately 2 km to a nearby waterfall. Travelers who wish to enter the water may enjoy the refreshing experience, depending on the weather, water conditions, and guidance from the local team.
After enjoying the waterfall, we will drive approximately 12 km to Gemesha Hot Springs, where we will set up our tents for the second night.
The rest of the day will be dedicated to relaxation. One of the highlights of the experience will be swimming and relaxing in the naturally warm mineral waters of Gemesha Hot Springs.
You can explore the surroundings, spend time in the hot spring, relax at your own pace, and enjoy a peaceful evening with dinner before spending another memorable night beneath the stars.
The Final Day
Day 3 - Gemesha to Mount Hambaricho and Addis Ababa
We will wake up early, pack our camping equipment, and drive approximately 5 km to Sinsicho, where we will enjoy breakfast.
After breakfast, we will continue to the iconic Mount Hambaricho.
At Hambaricho, we will climb the famous first 777 steps, followed by another 777 steps leading toward the summit.
Along the way, our guide will share the history and cultural significance of Mount Hambaricho. We will also enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Kembata highlands, take photographs, and spend time appreciating the scenery.
After completing the experience, we will descend to our vehicle and return to Sinsicho for lunch.
In the afternoon, we will begin our journey back to Addis Ababa. Our estimated arrival time is between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM, bringing our unforgettable three-day Kembata adventure to an end.

- The schedule is flexible, with enough room for breaks and adjustments.

- Music, when played, should be kept at a low and respectful volume.
- Everyone must respect fellow travelers, local communities, and nature.
- We follow a strict leave-no-trace principle. Everything brought into nature must be taken out.
- Please avoid giving money directly to children who are not providing a service. Travelers who wish to contribute may bring useful school supplies, such as pens or exercise books.
- This is not a luxury trip. Guests should expect simple and basic camping conditions as part of the experience.
- Activities may be adjusted when necessary because of weather, road conditions, safety considerations, or group energy.
Overall, expect a free, natural, peaceful, and unhurried journey where you can fully enjoy the landscapes, local people, and special moments along the way.

Please remember:
- This is a nature-focused trip, not a party bus.
- No loud music, dancing, or yelling during the drive.
- Please respect everyone’s peace and personal space.
- No littering. Let’s protect the nature we came to enjoy.
- We do not provide a speaker. Guests may bring their own small speaker if they want music during campfire time.
- The hotel is simple and old, not luxury. We are here for the beauty of Wondo Genet, the experience, and the memories.
- Come with an open heart and love for nature.

3-Day Itinerary
Day 1 - Addis Ababa to Ziway to Wondo Genet

Continue to Wondo Genet.
2:00 PM - Arrival in Wondo Genet
Check in, lunch at the hotel, then rest and relax.
7:00 PM - Dinner and Campfire
Games, conversations, and enjoying the night together.
Day 2 - Hot Springs and Forest Adventure
5:30 AM - Hot Spring Morning
Visit the hot springs before the locals arrive. Relax, enjoy the water, and swim if desired.
7:00 AM - Forest Hike
Slow hike through the forest with waterfalls, beautiful scenery, photos, a viewpoint, and nature connection.
Return to the hotel.
Breakfast: Avocado with traditional local bread.
Afternoon: Explore Wondo village, experience local life, relax, and rest.
Evening: Dinner and campfire with networking, games, and stories.
Day 3 - Wondo Genet to Ziway to Addis Ababa
7:30 AM - Breakfast
Avocado, potato, and traditional bread.
Pack and leave.
Ziway Stop: Fresh fish lunch by the lake.
Return to Addis Ababa.
